Day fell apart early, but not entirely.
Maybe an earlier start tomorro will make a difference.
Quiet Sunday.
Worked on a manuscript, did some research for a new project, wrote a couple of letters, and had a nice lunch at Jose Muldoon’s.
Thought we might get a walk in, too, but it didn’t happen.
All good.
We’ll revisit the rest tomorrow.
Took a drive up to Denver today to get a restoration estimate on an old cartoon for a stained glass window. The cheeseburger at Bud’s Cafe and Bar in Sedalia was the highlight of the trip.
Long night’s sleep, late rise.
Didn’t do much in the way of writing today. Didn’t get to the gym, either. Ran errands, mostly, but every now and then that’s the tallest order of the day.
Taking it easy this evening.
Hoping to make it up to Denver tomorrow.
Hard day. Not much more to say.
See if I can’t pick it up and dust it off tomorrow.
Back at it after a slow start.
Made good headway with the new story. Quit when I got to the end and went off to the gym.
Got a good five inches of snow overnight, so I shoveled the walks when I got home.
Not a whole lot else going on. More snow supposedly on the way. We’ll see.
Easy day all the way around.
Up early, wrote till noon, took a nice stroll around the neighborhood, and finished up the day with a phone call to my sister, Moya.
Probably watch some football tonight and turn in early.
Good night’s sleep last night. Up early.
Worked on one of the new shorts this morning, making good headway. Not sure how close I am to a reader draft, but feel it’s not all the far away.
Learned my old friend George Armijo died a few weeks ago. Sad news. He was a nice guy and talented musician.
Been a hard year so far seeing so many passings.
Early rise for coffee with my bud, George.
Meant to make more of the day, but didn’t get a lot of time at the keyboard.
Quick trip to the gym mid-afternoon, then a short nap and a long FaceTime chat with the boys.
Pretty quiet otherwise.
Yeah, did it.
Up early to the keyboard for the second time this week. Passed on a nap this afternoon as well. Who knows, maybe I’m coming back into my old form?
Started reworking an old story today. Thought I had it right in an earlier go round, but realized I’d cut the soul out of it in one of my earlier edits. Hope I can pound it back into shape over the weekend, and finally send it out.
Eyes are still driving me crazy, but the new drops have helped. Shuffling my reading time between books and tablet to keep things interesting. Not sure which is easier on the eyes.
Having coffee with my guy, George tomorrow. Looking forward to catching up.
Up and down day with a few errands thrown in.
Lost out on a semi-finalist spot with ScreenCraft, but had a different story, “Riddle Me This,” picked up by Kennings Artistic & Literary Journal out of Hanover College.
Spent the better part of the morning working on the plotting of the long piece. It’s better than I hoped, and when I get to the end, I think I’ll be able to delve into some serious revisions.
Solid workout at the gym. Some good reading time afterward.
Temps sunk again, but the sky was blue and the sun made all the difference. Not sure what tomorrow’s supposed to bring.
Looking at another easy evening.
Clunky day .
Woke later than usual, fought the feline over his thyroid meds, put in a long read at the keyboard while trying to figure out why a particular story stunk, then wandered off to the gym where I had to navigate a throng to get a workout.
On the good side, got a chance to break into Ivanhoe, and later, manage a short but pleasant nap.
Made a pot of split pea soup for dinner.
Looking forward to a cold mojito and a quiet evening.
Easy sailing into Monday morning. Early rise, coffee. Then out to the cottage to tend to one of the new shorts I’ve had languishing on my shelf. Feel like I’m getting back into the right headspace. That is, like I might finish another soon. Meanwhile, I’ve got the long piece staring at me, begging me to reinvest myself.
Weather cooled again today. Mercury got stuck somewhere in the early forties, and stayed there.
Spent the early afternoon at the gym. No walk with the wind blowing as it was, and no nap, either, despite the fact it seemed like a sterling idea.
Need to shoot for an early rise tomorrow. Get letters off to the boys. Punch away at the manuscripts. See if I can’t kickstart a new project or two.
Saw a painting on the Antiques Roadshow yesterday that reminded me of my mom. What a footprint that woman left behind. I’ll never stop missing her.
Sent out a new short this morning. Patched up a couple of others. Mailed a letter to Elena, too, but still running behind in my correspondence. Need to up my game .
Put in a brief workout at the gym, then came home for a long walk around the neighborhood. Nice day, except for the wind. There’s a new front rolling in and temps will drop again tomorrow. Not sure for how long.
Big to-do at the church tonight. Not sure what it is, but they’ve scarfed up every parking spot for blocks around.
Cooked up a pot of beef stew for dinner. Figure to veg-out, watch the Grammy’s, then turn in for an early sleep.
Long quiet day.
Didn’t sleep as well as I’d have liked, owing to a restless kitty who insisted on stepping on my head all night. Woke early enough to do some decent writing, then took a long lunch at the Omelette Parlor.
Eyes have been driving me crazy all week—allergies, I think—putting a severe crimp in my work. Gotta make an appointment with an ophthalmologist soon. Make sure I stay ahead of curve.
Finished Robin Hood yesterday, and am soon to be back with Robert L. Stevenson if all goes well and I can snare a copy of The Black Arrow.
Looking forward to an easy Saturday night.
Got to work early this morning. Put in some decent time at the keyboard, then went off to the gym for a light, late morning workout.
Spend the rest of the afternoon sorting through medical work, wishing I could have taken a nap instead.
Weather’s still on the good side. More tomorrow?
Looking at my entry here, it feels like I should’ve had a bigger day. But I didn’t. Guess I’ll have to push for an early rise tomorrow and see if I can’t make amends.
Early rise. First one since I was sick. Up a little after six, and out to the cottage.
Finished a tight draft of a short-short I’m gonna ship out this weekend, barring any unforeseen tragedies.
Had a quick workout at the gym, then went off for coffee with my neighbor, Hank. Later, made a trip to the store for groceries.
Nice day today. Weather warmed up, and most of the snow is gone. Hope to have more of the same tomorrow.
Slow, slow day.
Tried without success to make something of at least one of the stories I’ve got in the mill, but couldn’t seem to get there. The post-pneumonia fog is still hanging over my head.
Caught up with Sol and Dan for coffee late morning, then went off to the dentist where I spent most of the afternoon.
No gym today. No anything, really. Just more of the same.
Hoping to get up early tomorrow and row my way out of the doldrums.
Slow day. Real slow. So slow it’s not worth talking about. Gonna put it to rest and pick it up again tomorrow.
So. A new start.
Up late, but not too late, to the keyboard. Worked hard and put up some good words. Went to the gym later this afternoon, then came home and shoveled the walks.
Wish I’d been able to do more, but time is time.
Taking it easy tonight.
