Pins and needles...

Made a real effort to take advantage of an early morning rise, and saw it through. Did a lot of good work at the keyboard today. Less so at the gym, but not too bad there either.

Took a small nap early afternoon, then headed off to Walgreens for flu and RSV shots. Glad to have them out of the way, though one, the RSV, I think, left a huge welt on my arm.

No big plans for tomorrow. Gonna hook up with my pal, Sol, then take the rest of the day as it comes.

Just another day...

Most of the weekend’s snow melted today. Not sure if anything else is on the radar.

Woke late, but made the most of my time at the keyboard getting another short in order. Been more productive this past week—for reasons passing understanding—and hoping the juices don’t dry up for a while.

Left the house around noon to get a haircut. Then dropped by the gym for a quick workout.

Spent the rest of the afternoon grocery shopping.

Yup, that's it...

Woke to four, five, six inches of snow.

Shoveled early, then went to work on a new story.

Had a brief FT with Jack and Matt, then did a little shopping downtown.

Pretty quiet day, all in all.

Looking ahead to an easy night.

Quiet Saturday...

Thought I might be able to squeeze more out of the day, but figured wrong.

Got in some good edits on a short I’m looking to push out the door. That, and a brief workout at the gym, are just about it. Rest of the day went to shopping.

Tired after staying up late for the concert at the Black Rose.

Looking for an early turn in.

Another pleasant sunday...

Pretty, pretty day. The leaves are still holding, but probably not for a whole lot longer.

Finished another reader draft—the second this week—then drove over to Shuga’s for a Cuban sandwich. Took a short nap when we got back, then went out for a long stroll around the neighborhood.

Enjoying it all. A nice respite after all the comings and goings of the past few weeks.

Ready for good day tomorrow.

Winding down...

Found the groove today.

Got up early, finished the draft of the piece I’m callling “Nobody’s Business But His Own,” the went off to the gym for a nice long workout.

Beautiful day. The best of many good ones to come along this week. Took a walk around the neighborhood late this afternoon, then eased back into a bit of reading.

Looking forward to a quiet evening.

Between sleep and waking...

Pretty Friday.

Lots of sun, a nice breeze. Soaking it all up before the big freeze tonight.

Worked through another short, and am pretty happy with where I left it. Took a jaunt to the gym early afternoon, then went out to Costco to pick up a few bottle of wine for the weekend. No nap today, but could have used one. Maybe tomorrow, before M’s wedding.

Tired as hell.

Looking forward to an early bedtime.

Nothing to write home about...

Bad night’s sleep. Kept waking up, waiting for the ambulance that never came.

Put in some decent organizational work the long piece, then walked over to the gym to chill out.

Spent the rest of the afternoon trying to organize things, then cooked up a pot of potato leek soup for dinner.

Took a late afternoon walk around the hood, enjoying the nice weather before the cold snap comes. Helped out some new neighbors with their halloween decorations.

Cutting the losses...

Couldn’t get much of anything going today.

Worked on the long piece this morning then walked over to the gym for a light workout. Came home and helped the neighbors with yardwork in advance of this weekend’s wedding.

Best thing might be to just hit the rack early and start again tomorrow.

A wake up call...

So. Slow day. Tried to wring something out of it, but too many distractions.

Got the news on Kit’s bloodwork today. Doc says they can’t figure out what’s going on with his thyroid, and that they can’t up his meds any further than they have. She said it could suggest cancer, and they could run a test, but we said no since it wouldn’t do any of us any good. We’re just gonna keep on as we’ve been doing and hope for the best until there’s nothing to hope for anymore.

Didn’t want to hear that, but I guess we’re in that place in life where bad news comes more cheaply and readily than good.
